The Apprentice UK started its third seasion last night.
It's awesome in all the ways that the Trump Apprentice no longer is.
It's awesome because of Alan Sugar - gruff, curmegeonly, yet oddly lovable. Not a slimeball like the one with bad hair.
It's awesome because of the lack of in-your-face-product placement (besides stuff that Amstrad makes, which I suppose is sort of inevitable) BBC editing.
It's awesome because of the London setting, and the shots that make it look like the futuristic, buzzing business capital it is rather than the same old 'historic olde city' stuff.
It's awesome because the contestants who actually look like they are real people, not model/actresses.
Even the post-show, hosted by the excellent Adrian Chiles, is awesome.
Looking forward to 15 more awesome episodes!
(Even the Red Nose Day Celebrity Apprentice was great. I have so much more respect for Trinny Woodall now; she's not just some fashionista, she's an amazing fundraiser/PR type person. Scary good.)
What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why?

You mean, you have to plan ahead for the whole season? OMG.
I guess the one show I will be sure to watch that is coming up soon, though I will have to download it via iTunes, is Top Chef. Let's hope the new host, Mrs. Salman Rushdie, will be less wooden than her predecessor, Mrs. Billy Joel.
On the Beeb, I'm looking forward to the upcoming new version of Robin Hood, as well as the rest of Jane Eyre. And the rest of Extras which is just hilarious. (Spooks, on the other hand, is just so...meh now.)
And OMG, Trinny and Susannah have moved to ITV! And the Beeb has two new hosts for What Not To Wear!
I should really force myself to watch more German TV to better my language skills, but I'm so lazy.
The first part of the new Jane Eyre was quite good. In the first part, when the little girl playing Jane came on screen, I thought "wow she looks so much like Georgie Henley". I didn't realise until the closing credits came up (since I wasn't paying attention during the opening credits) that it is Georgie Henley. (She is Lucy in the Chronicles of Narnia). Very good child actress, and still pulling off a convincing British accent.
The actress who plays the grown up Jane, Ruth Wilson, has the most amazing fog-colored eyes. I wasn't as taken by Toby Stevens as Rochester though. It's pretty hard to surpass Orson Wells' portrayal of Rochester in any case.
The interesting thing is that BBC4 is going to be airing an adaptation of Wild Sargasso Sea, which is about the mad first Mrs. Rochester, which was written by Jean Rhys in the 1960s. Should be interesting to see if there's much connection between the two productions. It would have been great if the same actor had played Rochester in both but doesn't seem to be the case, unfortunately.
